How to improve your concentration while studying
We would all like to be able to have razor-sharp focus and concentration while we study. However, it is not so easy to achieve. Lucy shares her tips on how to improve your concentration while studying.
How to improve your concentration while studying?
My daughter used to suffer from some severe concentration and focus problems. She always wanted to become a doctor, but she was never able to focus in school no matter how hard she tried, so she was constantly distraught, anxious, and depressed. Her pediatrician would even recommend ADHD medication because her level of concentration was so poor. She could never sit still nor focus on whatever she was doing – whenever I walked into her room to give her some snacks while she was studying, she was always fidgeting and doodling all over her homework and workbooks instead of actually doing homework.
During parent-teacher meetings, her teachers would voice concerns to me about how she couldn’t pay attention during class, reflecting poorly on her grades. Entering high school, my daughter was really worried that her concentration issues would continue to lower her grades and that she would be rejected from her dream schools.
We realized that something had to be done, so I asked if she wanted to go to this meditation center with me. I had been meditating at this center for almost a decade by then, and I knew that this meditation process really helped with my concentration, so I wanted her to try.
Said meditation center taught that humans are incomplete because we live inside of our mind worlds, instead of the real world. We take countless pictures with our eyes, nose, mouth, ears, and touch, and store these ‘pictures’ into our brains just like a living, breathing camera. The reason people have difficulty concentrating is because these ‘pictures’ we take are incessantly clouding up our brains, making it impossible for people to give their 100 % into doing just one thing at a time, hence these focus problems.
In my daughter’s case, she had so many of these pictures of her lived life and thoughts, which were stopping her from concentrating or focusing, whether it be during school or just any other time in general. In order to become complete, we must discard all these thoughts and become the universe and live in the real world. My daughter learned how to throw away her cluttered minds to become the universe mind, and now she no longer suffers from any concentration problems. From this meditation, she was finally able to focus on her daily activities because she no longer had all of these irrelevant and distractive thoughts running through her head 24/7.
My daughter is now a senior in high school. Thanks to this meditation method, she has an extremely strong concentration, and excels in her studies. While she was unable to even focus on one line of a children’s book in the past, she is now in the top 5% of her competitive high school’s graduating class with a 4.5 GPA as an AP scholar with Honors, a Questbridge National College Match Finalist, a Coca Cola Scholars Foundation Semifinalist, and a National Honors Society Scholar. Now that she no longer suffers from concentration issues, her grades are now top-tier, so she no longer feels worried or anxious about being able to pursue her dreams in the medical field. And best of all, thanks to this meditation method, not only is her concentration strong, but she hardly ever gets stressed or anxious even in this competitive race towards college admissions – she is always happy and constantly has a huge smile on her face!
To the parents who are worried about their children’s concentration or even to any students that are reading this: if you’re wondering how to improve you or your child’s concentration and you feel skeptical or hesitant, please trust me and my daughter’s experience and change, and just go for it. I hope that whoever is reading this will able to experience the full benefits of meditation.
